You can now Spy on the conversations going on on the social networks like Twitter and Friendfeed based on the term which you wanna keep an eye on.

This is a cool new feature. I’m not very active on Friendfeed, but on Twitter I definitely am, and I can say thanks to this spy utility, I can make and follow new friends who share the same interest on me very easily.

I haven’t used it to find friends on Twitter yet, because I decided to come here and blog about it as soon as I discovered. I’m sure many will like it. So, go ahead and Spy on the social media conversations :-P

IZEA Makes Bloggers And Advertisers Meet

IZEA Homepage

A while ago, I made a post entitled “A first glance at SocialSpark.com“, where I mentioned the parent company behind them is IZEA. In my opinion, IZEA is definitely an innovative company when it comes to blog ads and blog marketing services.

These guys work hard to keep both publishers and advertisers happy. In just a little more than 2 years, they have established themselves as the leader in social media marketing.

On their website, you will also see a Solutions Sales Team page where you can contact their team and they will assist you in your campaigns. All you have to do, is fill the form on that page with your details and submit your questions and queries.

They also provide a number of other tools and strategies to make your social media marketing more effective on the world wide web. IZEA’s wide variety of services include sponsored blog posts, blog sponsorships, etc…

They also have a blog and forums where advertisers, publishers and the IZEA team can interact with each other. You can drop by on the blog and forums to learn about the new features and leave your feedback and also find answers to your questions, some of which might have previously answered by other members.

Squidoo Sends Tweet Updates To Your Twitter Profile

When I introduced the WebSMS Squidoo Lens some days ago, I mentioned coming across a new(or not!) feature on Squidoo. It’s the Twitter feature that quickly(in one click) sends a tweet to your profile when you make updates on your lenses.

To set it up, go to “My Profile” after logging in your Squidoo Dashboard. That’s currently the 5th orange tab from the left on the dashboard. Once there, scroll completely to the bottom and you will see “Social Application Settings”. that’s where you connect your Twitter account to your Squidoo account.

After entering your Twitter username and password, you can test if you have correctly setup everything. You will see the following message at this point:

squidoo test tweet

Note that for this test, Squidoo will send a test message as a tweet and it will appear as follows in your Twitter profile:

Squidoo test twitter

That’s it! Very easy to setup and and you can quickly inform all your followers whenever you make updates to your lens. You will actually see this option everytime you publish your lens, just click on it and the tweet is twittered :-p

More Website Templates

Some days ago, I was talking about where I get my wordpress themes or templates from. Today, I’m going to talk about another cool website that you can use to find the right website templates that will fit with your website content.

DreamTemplate homepage

Dreamtemplate.com has a huge number of amazing website templates in their database. They have high quality templates, and not just website templates, but also Flash templates, PowerPoint templates, word templates and more. You can quickly and easily browse through the long list of categories on the left sidebar from the homepage.

For a one-time fee, you get unlimited access to their database of 1000+ websites and Flash templates, 15000+ cliparts, animations and images and lots more. You can check out the features here.

Dreamtemplate.com adds new designs and templates on a regular basis. Not only that you get access to a large number of professionally designed templates, but you also have the full HTML and PSD files for each template. So, you can quickly make your changes and upload the files to your server and make your website live in no time.

Some people pay $100 or more for getting their website custom designed. Why would one pay so much for a custom designed layout when for less than that money they have access to thousands of website templates. Among those thousands, there surely must be one that will fit the theme you are looking for. Unless one has lots of money to waste on getting custom designs and waiting weeks or months before they are delivered, web templates is the way to go.

A membership with DreamTemplate.com will make life easier for any business owner looking to put up a website about their business. No hassle of dealing with designers, no long waiting periods before website is delivered, no maintenance fees or update fees.

Now, you might be thinking I’m taking as if I hate website designers. No, I dont! In fact, I would consider myself to be a website designer. I have learned website designing during my graduate studies. Even in the office (where I work as a Software Engineer), there was once a task to design a webpage and I did that myself. But my logic (which is a pretty smart logic) tells me not to become a website designer unless I can bag contracts from the big companies. ;)

Anyways, that’s it from me for today.Be sure to visit DreamTemplate.com if you are looking for website templates. Who know, maybe you will find teh template of your dreams there :-P

Where Do You Get Your Wordpress Themes From?

  • Author: Zub

I have become a big fan of Wordpress blogs now. As you might have noticed, even FusionFoot.com is powered by Wordpress. When I first discovered the world of blogging about 2 years ago, I couldn’t get a go of any blogging platform, I was so used to static websites then.

The only blogging I found easy to use then was Google’s blogger/blogspot. Then, I got to know Typepad and Wordpress blogs. Typepad is not bad too, but I personally think one has to be more familiar with the technical side. Wordpress is much easy and the best part is that there are so many plugins and themes available.

So, where do you get your Wordpress themes from?

I have never(not even tried to) designed a theme from scratch, simply because they are so many of them freely available i didnt find the need to. I get my Wordpress themes from WPThemesFree.com. They ahve a large collection of free themes that you can download and use for your own blogs.

They are arranged within directories and you can use their advanced search feature to find the theme that suits your needs. They even have a formula called the Wordpress Theme Sparkling Index(WTSI) to determine the best upcoming themes in their database.

If you are looking for a WP Theme, go ahead and check them.

I Have Been Matched. And You?

Matched.co.uk bannerMatched.co.uk is a website that has been around since last year (I think). What is great about it, is that it has a cool new income generating system for sites with low traffic. Usually, when someone wants to monetize their site, they would simply chuck in some ad code from Google Adsense or one of the similar ad networks. The problem here is that the site owner will only earn money if the ads are clicked by visitors. And since the site is getting very low traffic, the clicks will be little to none.

So, with Matched.co.uk, there is no waiting for clicks. All you have to do is to place the ad they have matched to your webpage and leave it there and you will be paid £3 per month for as long as the ad is live. You can actually put the ads on 5 pages per site and you can add 5 sites to your account. If all your webpages are matched, that’s not a bad sum of money for doing nothing, according to me.

So far, out of my 25 webpages, only 3 have been matched. You can see one example on the Structured Settlements page on FusionFoot.com. Let’s wait and see if the rest get matched. I believe, publishers are rushing to use this new network, hence why they are taking to match all the webpages.

In the meantime, you can also refer your friends to the website and when they sign up, you will get £5. Therefore, if you haven’t joined them yet and would like me to get £5 on your sign up, then why don’t you do so here ;)

Take care!

P.S. I believe one pound is approximately two dollars (for those who are still wondering)!

P.P.S. The company pays worldwide, so you don’t have to be in U.K. to apply.

Happy 1st Of June

So, it’s Sunday the 1st of June 2008 today. What’s so special about it? Well, nothing really, it is just like any other lazy Sunday I have been having this year. But wow, time really flies. It seems like as the computers get faster and faster, a minute gets shorter and shorter ;)

It seems like it was just some days ago, we had the New Year celebrations and it’s already June now. I can remember clearly my first days at my first job when I was employed in December 2007(still working for the same company by the way!).

I’m turning 24 years old this month and I’m still the same old guy I was before I left for studies to Australia. It’s been almost a year since I came back to Mauritius now. Will I be sitting here like this next year also? I hope not. Although I’m happy I discovered the fun of blogging this year and intend to be blogging for a long time, there is a lot more I have to do out of my life than just blogging, unless blogging pays for all my needs, then it would be perfect ;)

Anyways, that’s it from me for today. Have a great Sunday and get ready for work tomorrow!

P.S. Just wanted to thank the readers of this blog, in just a short amount of time, the community members of FusionFoot.com and RSS subscribers is gradually growing. If you haven’t subscribed to the blog’s feed or joined the community, please do and join us all.

If you scroll down to the bottom of this blog, you will notice something new that I added a few days ago. It’s right next to the MyBlogLog widget, in the last column. I like to call the “Tip Jar” and here is how it looks like:

Our Tip Jar

The basic idea behind this is the same as those donation buttons you have seen on many sites, except that now, you get something in return too, which is a link in the widget for a period of time. There is also the option to show image links instead of text links. Once again, the links have the nofollow tag, so search enigines are happy too ;)

Why would someone donate or give tips to a site?

I used to think the same too, but many bloggers (including me, in some cases) spend a lot time doing research on a topic and share the information for free on their blogs. So if you loved the post and want to give something in return to the blogger, you might want to donate some money or tip the blogger for his efforts. And now, the tip jar makes it easier!

The tip jar is fun and easy to use and you have full control of the links you want to appear on the widget or not. So go ahead, get your own top spot list(or tip jar)!

Do you use both Facebook and Twitter to keep in touch with friends and family? Do you want your latest tweets to show up on your Facebook profile?

Then use the Twitter application available on Facebook. You can now extend the “What Are You Doing” concept of Twitter to post tweets directly from your Facebook profile. It might make your life easier if you are always hanging out on Facebook, or to keep you Facebook friends updated about what you are doing.

Here is how the application looks like in your profile:

Facebook Twitter Application

Yep, that’s a tweet about the last post I made on this blog :)

Summize Homepage

Summize is a conversational search engine for Twitter. What it actually does is, it searches across Twitter conversions to match the word or phrase you are searching. The results are displayed in realtime and the latest tweets(or microblog posts!) are shown at the top.

An interesting thing(which you don’t get to see on conventional search engines) happens when you are searching for a word which is likely to occur in most sentences, such as “the”. When you click search the first time, you get a set of results with the latest tweets showing at top and immediately after that if you click search again, you get a complete new set of results. This goes to show at what speed people are active on Twitter :-P

Another useful trick you can use with this search engine for Twitter is to find who may be sharing your blog posts in their conversations. Now, you are probably aware that Twitter automatically shorten your URLs using TinyURL. But what you might not know is that TinyURL always provides the same shortened URL for a blog post. So, what you can do is, go to TinyURL and get the shorten URL of your blog post and use it with Summize to find all the tweets that contains this URL. Smart, eh?

Special thanks to Digital Inspiration for posting about this!
