I wanted to listen to the Self Motivation Booster from HypnosisDownloads.com today, because I was not feeling very motivated(in general). I guess that’s probably the after-effects of having been lazy a few days back. But what contributed most to this lack of motivation in me, I think, is because there were some confusions in my mind. Confusions about what I want to do next, after my bachelor degree.

The problem is that there is so much I want to do, but unfortunately one man alone can not do all these things. “Fusion Foot” relates to my situation in the sense that I want to “step in” various fields and learn about them. I have various interests, although I may not have very deep interest in any.

Now, I’m already an Information Technology graduate, so getting in Archaeology is out of question, although it sounds interesting too :-) But even in The I.T field, I’m confused about what I want to do for my postgraduate degree, whether I get in the Information Security field, or do a Master In Business Administration(MBA), or stick with a Masters in Information Technology. Or maybe I do none and just stay with an undergraduate degree only.

Information Security, although it sounds cool, is a tough field to get it. Then again, it’s vast, do I do a Masters degree in Information Security or do a few of the various certifications, such as CISSP, Ethical Hacking and Computer Forensics?? More confusions!!

An MBA will open more career opportunities for me, I may get a good position in a company with an MBA. Most Universities will require me to have at least two years work experience to do an MBA and I just have 6 months work experience so far.

With a Master In Information Technology, I could maybe go for a Phd or something(if I’m still haven’t gone nuts that is!) or get a position as a lecturer or something at the University.

I also believe my lack of proper planning contributes to my lack of motivation. I am not a good planner at all and I usually forget things I have to do, because when I start working on something, I forget about something that I am supposed to be doing but didn’t do. That’s the reason I always keep a pen and a sheet of paper and pen in my pocket to note down the things I have to do. It’s much easier than using a digital organizer or pocket PC. Maybe I should follow a course in Time Management, I’m sure that’ll help. I always feel like there is so much to do, but never enough time, although I must admit a lot of this time, I don’t use fruitfully.

The right working environment is also very important to keep the motivation level high. For me, the ideal work environment is, my laptop with a wireless internet connection by the seaside. Well, I have yet to do that, country wireless wasn’t available here until recently. For now, I’m still on my old ADSL connection, so my ideal work environment is yet to happen :-(

Another source of motivation is money. The more you make, the more you feel motivated to work harder. Although I make an “okay” amount of money with my online business, the income is not regular and enough to make me feel secure about it. Anyways, since I start my extreme blogging activities here, I’m spending less time finding new clients for my small business. Good thing I have a regular job, so I can expect a salary every month.

Then again, confusions and lack of planning or motivation do not mean that I’m giving up on my dreams in life. In fact, as long as I dare to dream, the motivation to work harder will always come by itself. Like one philosopher(I don’t know who) said, “The poorest man is not without a cent, but without a dream”.

Identity theft is for sure not a crime without victim. It can happen anywhere to anyone both online and offline. Identity theft occurs when someone uses your name, social security number, credit card number, or other personal data to commit frauds or other crimes. I was on Digg today and I came across this article which I think is a good read especially for those who don’t know much about computer security and how attacks could be coordinated from anyone’s computer, even yours. The most common way of doing this is by “hijacking” your computer and turn it into a zombie computer, one of the many others that will form a network to attack a system.

Here is what the description said:
“Across the world, thousands of home computers have been conscripted into zombie computer gangs that cyber criminals use to spam, attack and defraud others on the net, causing considerable consternation to law enforcement and security professionals alike, who count the so-called botnets as the most vexing net threat today.”

Spam has found its way to FusionFoot.com!

Well, I got my first bunch of spam comments on FusionFoot.com today. I got five spammy messages filled with links to stupid sites, probably adults sites or pharmacy sites selling whatever pills. I wonder if all these spam is sent manually or by some automated script. Anyways, I deleted them this time and ran to activate Askimet.

Akismet is a sort of comment moderation plugin which comes pre-installed on Wordpress blogs. But apparently you need an API key, which you don’t get if the blog is installed on a host other than Wordpress.com! Fortunately, you can open a free account with Wordpress.com and use the API key they provide on your blog which is on the other host.

I had an account from before, so it was quick. I got the API key and activated the spam blocker Akismet. Let’s see what magic it does now.

P.S. Score is : 1 for spammers - 1 for Wordpress
