Read Books At Office Worry-Free!

29 May 2008 | Cool websites |

There is this one cool website that office workers can use to read books and stories in their cubicles and fooling the boss into thinking that are actually working on a PowerPoint presentation. The website is ReadAtWork.com and it has been brought to the world wide web by the NZ Book Council, which is a non profit organization, aiming to encourage more people to read books.

When you go to the website, in your browser you will see that the homepage looks like the Start screen of Windows Xp except if you notice well, you will see it’s not “Windows” but “Widows”. Who knows, maybe they will come up with a Windows Vista version of the homepage soon ;)

On entering the website, it opens in fullscreen mode with the default Windows XP look and from there you can browse the folders to read the available books as PowerPoint slides. The “My Computer” and “Recycle Bin” icons are just there to make it look like a real desktop but have no real use(I think!).

To get back to your actual desktop and browser, just press “Escape” on the keyword.

This is for sure one of the coolest website around. Have fun bookworms ;)
